So the PSP2 code name NGP(next generation portable) has finally been reveled today. not too any ones surprise tho as this particular product along with the psp phone (more on that soon) have been circling the rummer mill for quite a few months now. But boy this new portable packs a punch.
Sony reviled it today at the Tokyo show. The shape looking similar to the original PSP just ovalised (if thats a word) thats about as similar as it gets. Dual analogue sticks AT LAST we have been crying out ever since the first version for this. Quad core processor how fast this is clocked at is yet to be discovered. A GPU capable of PS3 standard graphics this was proven at the end with a MGS cut seen from MGS4 running at a smooth 20fps. If it can do this within games it yet to be seen. The screen is a massive improvement over the original now 5inch OLED touch screen, it looks gorgeous. Also along the rear of device their is a touch pad the same size as the screen. This shall be interesting to see how developers use. Just imaging climbing a rope by dragging your finger tips inwards towards your palm?? Also their is accelerometers, gyroscopes etc to cater for movements. Front and rear cameras aswell,
On the connectivity side of things WIFI b/g/n, bluetooth 2., gps and a 3G connection hopefully mobile phone companies may subsidise this? They have also created a "livearea" each games has their own "livearea" and can communicate with gamers playing the same game. Hopefully multiplayer will be improved greatly with this new PSP. Also the device can also connect with the Android Market for abit more casual gaming.
A big change from the recent PSPgo which removed the UMD and and had download only, they have gone back to physical media yey. In the form of some sort of memory card. Hopefully not one of Sony's memory stick pro/duo or another daft version which we can only get from Sony for extortionate prices. SD would be nice. But the ones we all care about though...
Release date?? Sometime in the summer holidays
Price??? unconfirmed. if recent Sony prices are to go by ill take a lucky guess £60000000 :D this will be the PSP2 downfall. it has to be competitive. If its more than a PS3 they have no chance. Are you excited? i know damn well i am or until i see the price anyway
