Ipad to be or not to be

Well the new ipad 2 has just been released its been over a year since the original was first displayed to the public and since then thier has been many discussions about weather you sound get it or not. The second version makes a good shot at a reason to get it. But at the end off the day it still does not have easy accessability to it for other software eg sd card reader etc. All it offers is new shape, cameras front and back., faster prosseser and graphics. Not enough to justify a upgrade. But for people sitting on the fence the original Ipad is only £330 for the cheapest version. For that reason alone that is why I will invest in the first ipad

Time Time Time

It wasn’t long ago that i was ranting on about the cost of tech and how it stops us gadgeters enjoying and testing out all the new gadgets and games. Now ive just found another arch enemy which is preventing me from doing what I love and that is time. After completing a week’s work, completing my further education, house work, family commitments, sleeping and trying to keep the better half in check, or more to the fact bowing to all her commands.
What time do we have for tech. after all this?? For instance Saturday morning I went and treated myself to a certain Killzone 3. Since then It’s now Wednesday Morning I have had a total play time of 45 minutes. How depressing is that ive been foaming at the mouth about this game since the day I played the demo. I think I will have to give up on this sleeping malarkey, who needs sleep anyway??? Do you find yourself in the same situation? If so tell me your thoughts. Personally I wouldn’t want more hours in the day, how about a 3 day weekend. Now that would be nice.

Killzone 3. Unfortunate xbox only owners

How I can't wait for this Friday. The new Killzone is out. If you havnt got a ps3 I really really feel sorry for you. I've been playing the demo constantly and I can't see how this game will fail. It looks amazing, voice acting is good. Cut scenes look great but most importantly game play feels spot on. My one issue i had with Killzone 2 was that the movement was slow. This has been fixed and it feels great. Obviously I can't be the judge until ive played the final copy. But this is one game im very excited about. Unlucky xbox only users. Halos just had its pants pulled down.

Has your Smartphone taken over your life?

In recent light of Smartphone’s now out selling traditional PC this made me thing a bit about what mine is used for. And now I’m thinking I can’t live without this damn thing, its like a extension to my hand a sixth finger. If it’s not on or near me I break out in sweats. Questions fly around my head “where’s my phone?”, “I wonder who’s on Facebook chat?”,”what’s the latest twitter update?” “Has someone just commented on the video I’ve uploaded to YouTube?”.
The modern day Smartphone’s do everything instantly their at your finger tips. For instance I now have to wake up 10 minutes earlier each morning.. Why? To check my daily routine of apps. This include in this order as well. Facebook, Twitter, Engadget, Techradar, Newspapers and Emails. It’s taking over my life that’s for sure. I’m dreading to think in another years time I physically won’t be able to go to work because I’ll be checking millions more items on my phone.
Being constantly connected and having instant access is great in many ways than one. But could it ever become a burden on your life.
Let me know what you do with your Smartphone and if you could live without it….

Smartphones rule all

Well well well none of us can ever say we didn't see this coming. But Smartphones have outsold PCs for the first time ever. This has occurred in the first quarter of 2010. according to IDC's statistics 100.9 million smartphones where sold in that first quarter up over 87.9% each year over the previous 2 years before. But could this be bad for tech. If more and more companies start to aim
at this market. What will happen to the traditional PC? will it fall second best to the portable market?will it get devloped as fast as it could be.
How do you think this could effect the PC??

Mirrors on the edge

I've just finished a rather interesting game by creators EA mirrors edge.. yes I hear you saying "how old is that game?" Yes I know it's old but it's not the kinda game I go spending all my money on release day. But I'll tell you what I actually wish I did. Such a different idea executed pretty well. Running and jumping from ledge to ledge and actually avoiding people with guns rather than attacking them. Even though you can it's not recommended. It seems to take a twist on the new extreme sport of climbing and jumping to and from buildings. It's very fast pace and thier is nothing more enjoyable than making that perfect jump across a 300 foot drop. It does get fustrating trying to make prescion jumps but you soon get used to that over time. And the thing which was most disappointing it's such a short story about 5 hours gameplay. But I have to admit it number 2 comes out ill be first inline 8/10

PSP2

So the PSP2 code name NGP(next generation portable) has finally been reveled today. not too any ones surprise tho as this particular product along with the psp phone (more on that soon) have been circling the rummer mill for quite a few months now. But boy this new portable packs a punch.
Sony reviled it today at the Tokyo show. The shape looking similar to the original PSP just ovalised (if thats a word) thats about as similar as it gets. Dual analogue sticks AT LAST we have been crying out ever since the first version for this. Quad core processor how fast this is clocked at is yet to be discovered. A GPU capable of PS3 standard graphics this was proven at the end with a MGS cut seen from MGS4 running at a smooth 20fps. If it can do this within games it yet to be seen. The screen is a massive improvement over the original now 5inch OLED touch screen, it looks gorgeous. Also along the rear of device their is a touch pad the same size as the screen. This shall be interesting to see how developers use. Just imaging climbing a rope by dragging your finger tips inwards towards your palm?? Also their is accelerometers, gyroscopes etc to cater for movements. Front and rear cameras aswell,
On the connectivity side of things WIFI b/g/n, bluetooth 2., gps and a 3G connection hopefully mobile phone companies may subsidise this? They have also created a "livearea" each games has their own "livearea" and can communicate with gamers playing the same game. Hopefully multiplayer will be improved greatly with this new PSP. Also the device can also connect with the Android Market for abit more casual gaming.
A big change from the recent PSPgo which removed the UMD and and had download only, they have gone back to physical media yey. In the form of some sort of memory card. Hopefully not one of Sony's memory stick pro/duo or another daft version which we can only get from Sony for extortionate prices. SD would be nice.
But the ones we all care about though...
Release date?? Sometime in the summer holidays
Price??? unconfirmed. if recent Sony prices are to go by ill take a lucky guess £60000000 :D this will be the PSP2 downfall. it has to be competitive. If its more than a PS3 they have no chance. Are you excited? i know damn well i am or until i see the price anyway

Call of Duty.... Tango Down

So fellow readers. It seems their is some issue with PS3 users of call of duty mw2 and black ops. ever since the PS3 has finally been hacked in the last few months people are now starting to attack the online community similar to what happened on the xbox a few years back before the mass blocking of online accounts. It seems that people are cheating the games. and Activision Creator of the most popular video game ever says their may be no other option to shut the PS3 servers down. This will be a major down fall that I'm sure Sony is hoping will never happen. But would it ever happen? no. If activision where to ever do that just imagine the profit they would lose. But still you hackers bugger off and go screw over the xbox community.

Other news today it seems the recent release of little big planet 2 for the ps3 has gone straight to the top of the games chart, finally knocking of the awesome Call of Duty black ops of top spot. it was going to happen at some point but who would ever imagine a cute little sack boy doing it.

Mac App Store

The mac app store has not long been released and I'm starting to get some good quality time with it, Certainly the apps have been coming in thick and fast over the last few weeks. And most noticeably the prices have been increasing too. Would you really pay £29.99 for Call of Duty 4 a game over 3 years old REALLY??.I suppose the developers have to do something though as apple take 30% from them just for the please of publishing their app on apples precious little baby. I think this will throttle the Macintosh progression for different software for Mac. Eventually the only way software for the mac can be brought will be through the App store which also in turn prevent software for certain things being un-available as apple wont let it on the app store. and I'm sure apple will somehow prevent users from installing third party software.

What do you think on Apples app store and how it will encourage software growth or prevent it

Your Ideas

As this is a Blog for all thoughts on tech i thought it would be good to point out. If you want to start a new discussion on anything tech based give me a shout in the comments. And im sure myself and more readers will have thier own views on the topic.

Bigger the Better?????

With all the fuss since last year about tablets weather it be osx android or windows. Tablets are well and truly main stream. But never mind the os for now. What about sizes 7 and 10 inches seem the most common. Which is the best though small and compact but does that affect use of it. Or larger 10 inch tablets more screen real estate but it can't just slot in a coat pocket... unless you're a giant.

Personally I prefer 7 inch. They do say good things come in small packages. Anyway if I can carry my tablet around and it still be big enough to browse the web more comfortably and do some quick blogging that's ideal for me. Tablets need to be portable. The 10 inch screens are not they will sit at home on my coffee table and if I'm at home I would rather use my laptop

What are your thoughts?

QVC

Have any of you ever watched QVC on freeview. DON'T thier is some bloke trying to sell HD freeview boxes and 3D Tvs and hasn't got a blooming clue. How many 3D TVs come without a pair of 3D glasses? NONE!! Its like selling a new car with no wheels. Its pointless!! you own it but cant use it!

I'm going to hunt him down and kick his ass.

Ninty 3DS hmmm

What do you think to the new ninty 3ds abit expensive at 230 quid the yanks only get it for 250 dollars. I'm not so sure on the 3d either supposedly your unable to move your head much while playing. If this is true this could seriously cause some issues. How many of you can lock your arms in the exact same place for a marathon gaming session? Talking about marathon gaming sessions i suppose that will not be an issue on the new Nintendo 3DS as the battery is poor, when i say poor i mean it. The Nintendo XLds has a game play time of 14 hours.  The 3DS 3.5 hours.. SAY WHAT??? 3.5 hours not much good as this is meant to be portable, cant see that happening much if your constantly tethered to a 12volt.

hmmm not sure what do you think?

Tech

This is a big part of my life i love my Tech and Gadgets anything like that. Its just a shame that to enjoy tech you need to earn a fortune. Im just in the process of ordering a new TV not a 3D one though personally i think they are a complete waste of time. 3D is pointless its not like how it is in America in the films. I remember when i went when i was a kid i watched a terminator film it had 3 screens and the glasses that we had to where were Huge but it looked great. So back to the topic LED tvs look good but its not really a new technology its just back lighting abit like my Mac screen its just brighter. Sooo maybe i should wait for OLED not that i no much about them but they say their the next best thing so im sure in lets say 10 years the might be affordable for a mere mortal like myself. Any who i quite like this blogging  can talk about the things i enjoy. And now im going back to watch TV nothing better than holiday tv they actually but good films on for a change.

So got a new tv in the end and all of the above went down the drain. And it came back to all tech fans arch nemisis.... money. Ended up with a standard lcd toshiba and free view recorder for £300 bargin if I do say so
